6/01/2006: Voting deadline is tomorrow. Get your vote in via email before midnight 7/01/2005 GMT+10. More details here
2/01/2006: You can track what pouet thinks of the entries by going here.
24/12/2005: Four entries for download. Thanks to all who entered! :)
Something unexpected that came out of the entries is that I learnt about a demo party that will be happening in Perth, Australia next year. Here's the info page so go check it out: notrees.
22/12/2005: Now is the time to start submitting your entries. See the submission section for details and remember to send me the email :)
18/12/2005: Only four days to go now.. yes, deadline extension until 22/12/2005 GMT+10 :) This'll give everyone more time and also let me sort out the submission ftp site.
Also, if you are planning to submit an entry can you drop me a message via email at
mdlaurie at gmail.com. That way I can at least have a rough idea of how many people actually bothered to put together entries :)
17/12/2005: Only two days to go now..
(The first entry has been received as well :)
Rule change on 13/12/2005: There's no problem if an entry has already been released this year (at another compo etc) and you want to enter it in this compo as well.
The .au Xmas Compo is an online xmas demo competition. Everyone is invited to submit a demo or intro, which will be made available for public download on some time in December. Everyone will then get a chance to vote for the entries.
For more info on what a demo is then just go visit scene.org and maybe download some stuff from the awards/viewing tips page.
Deadline for submission of entries will be on the 19th December 2005 GMT+10. Submission details will be provided closer to the date (ie I haven't sorted out ftp space yet :)
Because for the last couple of years this is the only time that the Australian demoscene has actually been active. Since it doesn't look like Ript/Disaster Area will be running the compo this year we (Kaolin) decided we'd run it anyway.
I am still trying to get into contact with Ript, so if you know where he is then can you get him to read his email? :)
Beyond the fun of actually making an entry? Well.. this year we might be able to put up some stash for the declared winner. Nothing confirmed yet, but we'll let you know.
Rules are at the moment the same as they have been for the last three years.
See Rules section for more details.
If you have an questions about the competition then feel free to send me (gyr) an email at mdlaurie at gmail dot com
Alternatively if you want to talk to some other australians then just grab an irc client and join irc.sorbs.net #demoscene and introduce yourself :)
If you're after some help with getting your entry done then you can either come by the irc channel or try posting a message on scene.org's Australia forum.
